Downtown Revitalization

Discover the magic of Main Street by visiting the National Main Street Center. This is where is all began in the late 1970s.  The Four-Point Approach of Organization, Design, Promotion and Economic Restructuring has recently been refreshed and revisioned, yet the same tried and true foundation for success remains constant:  economic revitalization within the context of historic preservation is keeping historic downtowns alive across America.

This January photo (above) is of historic downtown Manitou Springs, Colorado at the foot of America’s mountain – Pikes Peak.  Manitou Springs was one of the original 30 demonstration cities of the National Main Street Program, launched by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  This is one of the largest National Register Districts west of the Mississippi. Nestled in the foothills of the Rockies adjacent to Colorado Springs, this vibrant, magnetic place is positively loaded with creative artistic people! Manitou Springs is a year-round MUST VISIT gem to delight all your senses.  Its heritage as an early Victorian-era mineral springs resort community GAVE Colorado “Springs” its name.  Just sayin…

On a personal note, 2017 is Roxanne’s family’s centennial of first arriving and settling in Manitou Springs.  Mineral water flows through our blood.  Roxanne provides walking tours through the historic district with opportunities to taste the famous mineral water.
